It is a legal document that explains certain raised concerns related to a copyright application thatshould be submitted to the copyright registrar. In this objection, the applicant explains the originality of his work and qualifies for copyright protection.

When the following reasons are found in the submitted application, a Registrar may object to the application –

• If there are similarities in the application or,
• If the applicant itself is a duplicate or similar to an existing work

Following is the list of important documents that are required to file the copyright objection –

• Copy of application of registration
• Discrepancy letter issued by the Registrar
• Supporting documents of reply
• The affidavit, if required.

1. Analyse the reasons for objecting to the application. Knowing the relevant sections of the copyright act may help you understand the base of the objection.
2. It is required to prepare a reply to the received copyright objection by the applicant. The reply should be prepared carefully and needs to add the relevant judgments and the rules, supporting the law and the reasons as well why copyright is needed for the applicant.
3. The reply to the copyright objection should be filed with the registrar within 30 days of publishing the discrepancy letter.
4. If the reply seems to be valid to registrar of the copyright, then the copyright objection will be
   withdrawn, and the copyright gets registered. A Certificate of Copyright registration is published to the author of the original work.
